Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Mate Tweak is an open-source tweaking tool similar to Unity Tweak Tool, GNOME Tweak Tool or Elementary Tweak Tool.
Starting with the release of Ubuntu Mate, the developers have forked the mintDesktop software into Mate Tweak, creating a tool for configuring Ubuntu Mate and Linux Mint (using Mate).
Via Mate Tweak, the users can customize what is displayed on the desktop, the buttons layout, windows behavior, while new features will be added to future versions.
The latest version available is Mate Tweak 3.3.6, which has been released a while ago, removing the Linux Mint specific features from mintDesktop.

In this article I will show you how to install Mate Tweak 3.3.6 on Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn, Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, using MATE as the default desktop environment.
Because it is available via PPA, installing Mate Tweak on Ubuntu and Linux Mint systems using Mate is easy. All you have to do is add the ppa to your system, update the local repository index and install the mate-tweak package. Like this:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-mate-dev/ppa
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install mate-tweak
Optional, to remove mate tweak, do:
$ sudo apt-get remove mate-tweak
